In school we are all taught to read in classes and even have books that are apart of our grade to read. (Whether people actually read them or not.)
I remember one of my high school teachers exclaiming how lucky we were to be able to read To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I never really understood how such popular books could be “banned” from schools.
The TRUTH:
- Just because a book is banned doesn’t mean it can’t be read
- A book is just simply taken off of a list of material meant to be learned
- The school district doesn’t want to get in trouble
- Banning is the new form of blocking, not associated if no proof
- Any person can read whatever they want whenever
- If a student really wants to read a book they can go anywhere and buy it and read it even on school property, no one can take away the right to read
So if a school can inform you on why a form of literature is banned, it can usually make your mind up on if you want to go and get it. They are basically advertising for the book anyways. If a book sounds up your alley go and read it, just note that it probably has some taboo content in it.
