Modern Censorship of Classic Books

In school we are all taught to read in classes and even have books that are apart of our grade to read. (Whether people actually read them or not.)

I remember one of my high school teachers exclaiming how lucky we were to be able to read To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I never really understood how such popular books could be “banned” from schools.

The TRUTH:

  1. Just because a book is banned doesn’t mean it can’t be read
    • A book is just simply taken off of a list of material meant to be learned
  2. The school district doesn’t want to get in trouble
    • Banning is the new form of blocking, not associated if no proof
  3. Any person can read whatever they want whenever
    • If a student really wants to read a book they can go anywhere and buy it and read it even on school property, no one can take away the right to read

So if a school can inform you on why a form of literature is banned, it can usually make your mind up on if you want to go and get it. They are basically advertising for the book anyways. If a book sounds up your alley go and read it, just note that it probably has some taboo content in it.
